The 2007-2008 cursillo year saw four weekends delivered to an average of 22 candidates per weekend. As always, we had excellent candidates for Rector and Rectora, and they were able to recruit effective teams to present the Cursillo. Continued strong candidate sponsorship is certainly a sign that we are indeed building the Kingdom of Christ in our communities!
Some of the key things accomplished in 2007-2008 for delivery of the Cursillo weekends include:
-
Further development of the Set-Up/Logistics Role on the weekend team. The purchase and use of the Cursillo properties trailer has greatly simplified the logistics of the weekend, especially the clean-up as there is no longer a secondary unloading when using any facility besides Kateri School. Also, there are no stair to haul up to anymore. This has been a huge help on the weekends!
-
New (thick) foam mats were much appreciated by candidates and team.
-
Continued refinement of our e-mail and hard-mail lists – reduced hard mail to 750 from over 1000 a few years ago.
-
-
Great support from St Joes School teachers and administration – they hosted all three of the four weekends this year. (Remember, Kateri had three the previous year.)
-
Some progress on healthier choices for kitchen menus.
-
Major weeding out of un-necessary and broken kitchen materials (pans, coffee makers, old place settings, etc).
Further work in 2008-2009 includes:
-
Refinement of the Kitchen Head binders to remove outdated forms, procedures, etc.
-
Continued development of healthy menu options for the weekend meals – working on actual recipes and quantities.
-
Rebuilding our stock of Cursillo priests – Fr Claude has gone on to much greener pastures and Fr Gary is moving to Lethbridge, so we are more challenged than ever to have a priest on the weekend.
-
Board transition – three long-serving members are leaving and we need to rebuild our capacity.
