This year’s AGM will be held in Grande Prairie at the new Parish Offices (Ligouri Room) at 8:00pm on Thursday May 8.  The meeting should be complete by 9:00pm at the latest. 

CURSILLO UPDATE #4

One of the key improvements requested in 2004, when Cursillo was struggling a bit in our diocese, was improved communications from the Board to the secretariat (and vice-versa) so that more people would understand how the movement is doing and what issues are ahead of us.  This update is in keeping with the commitment of the Board to improve communications.

Your current Board members are:

You can see that three terms are expiring this spring, and that one position is vacant – Tracey Romancewicz was forced to leave the board for health reasons.   Janne, Miroslaw and René are not eligible to serve on the board again having served two consecutive terms, so we need four new people to step forward.  The board is actively recruiting cursillistas to serve for the next two years on the board - if you are interested, please contact the Director, Kevin Walker at 539-8519. 

Please take the time to thank Janne, Miro, Tracey and René for their service – they have truly been a blessing to the cursillo movement and have done much to improve the logistics, communications and financial reporting that supports the whole cursillo movement.  In addition, their ideas and contributions to the general direction of cursillo and specific issues that the board has had to deal with have been astute, thoughtful and inspirational.

Besides the appointment/election of board members, the following items are on the AGM agenda:  

1. 1.      Review all board member reports including:
   a.       Finance
   b.      Director
   c.       Palanca
   d.      Properties
   e.       Rooster

2.      Review any input or concerns raised by the cursillista’s in attendance.

Key Board Priorities/Update for 2008

1.      Finances:  Donations continue to be very, very generous, resulting in continued healthy finances.  Thank you to all who trust us with stewardship of your gifts.  A full report will be made at the AGM

1. Weekend Logistics:  The Set-Up Coordinator as part of the Kitchen Team has worked very well this year – no significant issues with getting enough help or with leaving the schools clean without anyone staying long into the evening.  The addition of the storage trailer has greatly simplified the unloading and reloading of supplies – it has worked better than we had hoped.   New foamies have been much appreciated.
   
   
2. Candidate Numbers:  Four weekends were planned in the past year,.  Average candidates per weekend was about twenty.  Four weekends are planned again for 08-09.  Please continue to pray about those in your environments who should be invited to a cursillo weekend to become more a part of building God’s Kingdom.
   
3. Ultreya:  Grande Prairie continues to hold Ultreya’s periodically, but still has no regular coordinator.  Ft St John/Dawson is in much the same situation.  Falher has started a regular Ultreya that seems to be working well.
   
   
4. Kitchen Inventory Process:  Excellent results this year – very good focus from our Kitchen Heads to get this inventory updated and even expanded.
   
5. Healthier Menu:  not much progress due to board members not having time to support.  This is still on our priorities for 2008.
   
   
6.   Documentation:  Completed updating of the board member role descriptions and of the job descriptions for weekend team assignments.
   
   
7. Board Renewal:  this is a key year to replace four very committed and effective board members – please keep this intention in your prayers and support those considering service on the board.
